Pressed 200 of these bravery buttons (designed by www.ianmadeit.ca) for the Hand In Hand Gala organized by the York Region Abuse Program (YRAP) happening on May 3rd 2014.
YRAP is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to eliminating abuse and offering hope and healing at no charge to people of all ages effected by childhood abuse. All proceeds from the evening's events will go towards funding continual treatment services and working together with the community to end childhood sexual abuse.
Truly blessed to be a part of events like these. For more information on the Gala or to buy tickets please check out their website! www.handinhandgala.com
I always walk around with a beacon above, a glowing signal for those who need help to inquire within, or for opportunities for random acts of kindness to appear before me. I try to give more to the day than I take and I'm always on the look out for a chance to extend kindness to a stranger.
After I ran to the bus in the rain today, the driver informed me it would still be another 10 minutes before the bus left the station.
Out of breath, I excitedly stated "Oh good! then I can go get a coffee!"
"I was thinking the same thing myself, but..."
Let me get that for you. I insist. I know what it's like to need a coffee and be stuck at work. Let me be that person who adds a little pep to the rest of your route. When I saw the look of disbelief on her face, that a rider of the ttc would be so happily willing to drop another $2 on top of the hefty monthly metropass cost they already shell out, it was worth it. A reminder of goodness. That dispite your affiliation with the ttc, you're just like me. Out there hustlin, doing your best, working hard, and wanting a coffee on a rainy day. Why do rainy days always have the worst reputation anyway? Instead of being in a funk, get funky. They always make me want to be even kinder. Cause when it rains it pours, and when it pours it sprinkles.
Be awesome together y'all. It just feels so damn good.
Today I found out that "Be Awesome" is the theme at an upcoming monthly Comedy Poetry show and I couldn't be more pink in the cheeks!
This event truly encompasses what Be Awesome is all about. Performers of all styles will hit the stage and share with us their story whether through comedy, poetry, song, hip hop, dance or whatever! Be Awesome is all about creating a community of support for people who just want to straight up share their creations in a space where judgement is replaced by high fives.
Couldn't be happier to be surprised with this awesome news today! In fact, I'm so happy about it I'm bringing the button shoppe in full force and FREE STICKERS FOR EVERYONE! Can't wait!
