Buttons were poppin' faster than we could say thank you!
Had a blast at the Varietea Party last night helping to raise funds for Nepal. Buttons and #beawesome swag were free with any donation, and guess what?!?
We raised over $5000hkd! I am blown away. Seriously, THANK YOU all for being so awesome!
Carried 20lbs on our backs of free magazines, pamphlets and other assorted swag, all the way from Japan to Hong Kong. Totally worth it! Everything is so cute. Time to make all the buttons!
First of all, huge shout out to Comedy HK for donating ALL the proceeds from ALL your shows this week to benefit the earthquake victims of Nepal. Y'all are truly awesome!
I am thrilled to be a part of tomorrow night's Varietea Party. Always my favourite night of the month. Come by and support local artists being awesome...oh and our dear friend Arun's birthday of course! All are welcome and there is no charge to get in! Entrance and buttons work on a Pay What You'd Like basis and ALL proceeds are going to the Hong Kong Red Cross Nepal Earthquake 2015 Operation Fund. For more info, check out the Facebook Invite.
Time to be awesome together!
Going to be doing a series of hand drawn posters for Comedy HK's new monthly show, The Varietea Party!
Here's the first one
It is definitely going to be a fun and special night you don't want to miss. The show brings together performers of all kinds, such as story tellers, poets, musicians, comedians, spoken word artists, and more! Word on the street is there are lots of games and prizes in store too!
I'll be there with the Be Awesome Shoppe in full swing. We've got new button packs and freshly pinned boards to share with everyone! I can't wait! Find out all the event details here. Hope to meet you there!
Sunday afternoons are the best times for button boarding, especially in Tuen Mun park. That place is off the hook! Tons of people set up with their amps, singing and playing music. The place is packed with spectators, people having fun together and slipping little red pockets into the hands of the performers. It's so classy. The best part about it though, is there are these groups of people doing choreographed dances, and you can join in anytime! It's awesome. Anyone in Hong Kong should definitely check out Tuen Mun Park on a Sunday. Ho wan!
Can't think of a more fitting way to celebrate 1 month in Hong Kong than with a batch of Hello Kitty and Sanrio friends buttons!
A very special button of the day goes out to my tag team partner in crime! Tonight he will be competing in the 8th annual Hong Kong Comedy Festival! To me, he's already the funniest man in the World. The button shoppe just wouldn't be the same without him and we're so proud of how far he has come (literally- to the other side of the World) to keep spreading that special joy of his.

We were so busy getting ready to move to Hong Kong and finishing up our last button orders in Canada, that I forgot to post a couple of my favourites!
These buttons were pressed for the team at Blood, Sweat and Tears Tattoo Parlour in Toronto. Awesome people, awesome artists. Check them out on Instagram @bsttoronto @kate_somebody and @fabstellatattoos and their website http://www.bloodsweatandtears.ca
Our awesome adventures have brought us all the way to Hong Kong! Just a few days deep in our 11 month journey and I can't wait to see what kind of buttons we will create here with such a diverse world of stationery, cute characters, new fortunes, random books and so much more at our lucky fingertips. Definitely worth packing up our button maker and 3,000 pieces and embarking on a 24 hour journey to the other side of the World.
Though I must admit I do miss our favourite button model, Miss Boo Radley. So this is my spirit button of the day. Feeling a little like April O'Neil myself, reporting from a foreign land with all new characters and experiences. Also my dream last night focused around me saving turtles. So today I embrace their important place in the Animal Totem World and feel grounded and at peace with their slow yet transformational energy. Turtle power :)
I just love doing custom buttons. Such a nice way to contribute to someone else's creative adventure.
This time around it was for local band Valued Customer. Awesome dudes! Met them randomly at a show as they each picked out their "spirit button" from the Be Awesome Shoppe and now here we are pressing their buttons!
Check out their album Kalpa and go support local music :)
A fun custom order!
Tonight these buttons are pinned to the hearts of the guests at Wilson & Ada's wedding. Happy day to you both and congratulations! Thanks for letting us be a small part of it :)
Oh and every custom order now comes with a hand-stitched button pouch, just a little way to say thank you for being awesome!
Had a blast at the Bam! Youth Poetry Slam tonight!
Not only did I get to set up shoppe, I got to watch a 12 year old boy hit the stage and take it home. Now that's awesome.
